Pathways to have your very own children's picture book...
with all the support we can possibly muster!
We think the process of creating a children's picture book is entirely possible.  Not for a second are we even suggesting it is easy.  No way!  It is time consuming, demanding and totally do-able.  You just need to stay focused for a little longer than you do for normal things, like a term or two at school...  For eight years, children have been guided through the process of creating a children's picture book.  Some adults have also guided 'their inner child' through the process with great success.  Regardless of the path you take, correspondence, school based or classes in the community, Child Writes can help you achieve the dream of creating your own picture book...

Royalty, Commission, Money...
Invitations and news just in...
My mother ALWAYS told me not to talk about money - but I can't help it!  I have just written out cheques for Blake Hohenhaus (a copy of his book was sent to Chile!) Hamish McIlveen, India Lock, Rachel Menkins, Jessica Paech, Alannah O'Neil, Tamika Robinson.

Child Writes has been invited to host a breakout group for the Kids Connect workshops 'to history and beyond' in September.  In one and a half days, using a little technology and a lot of enthusiasm, Emma will work with a group of ten children to create a PDF eBook.

Meet tutor Jodie Rigby...
Jodie is guiding a school based group through the Child Writes process.  In her email this week to parents, she states the aim of the session is to  '... accelerate the story ideas the children had developed in earlier sessions and pin down the one idea they want to develop into the story they actually want to write.  Expand on one idea and enhance the story, give it structure, shape and give it life.'  Wish you were there?

Last call - any one interested...
The Community Based Program will be offered on Thursdays throughout term two and term three and possibly into term four, 2013 STARTING IN JUNE.  Students will work through the entire program, covering all aspects of creating a children’s picture book, from generating an idea to using planning tools for illustrations, all the way to book launch! Imagine the faces of your friends and family as you give them a book YOU WROTE AND ILLUSTRATED for Christmas.
